Cloud Backup by ThinkGrid
Cloud Backup provides a highly secure, automated method of protecting your critical
business data, whether it’s simple file data or complex databases such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL. Cloud Backup offers a cost-effective, hassle-free alternative to optical or tape based backup solutions. Whilst traditional methods can be effective, they require capital expenditure to set them up, along with staff to operate and maintain them. A Cloud Backup system avoids all of these problems, replacing time-consuming, laborious techniques with fast, automated, secure backup processes.
The business data that resides on your computer and server infrastructure is your most valuable asset and it demands adequate protection. Without a 100% secure backup of this data, your business will be highly vulnerable when faced with situations such as theft, fire, flooding, viruses, power cuts or technical malfunctions. Under circumstances like this, an up-to-date backup will be essential to your business continuity. Losing even a week’s worth of data can be devastating to any business, costing hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Thankfully, secure offsite data storage is now available, replacing the traditional approach of keeping your data on your own hard-drives, meaning that data backup and disaster recovery can be taken care of at the click of a button.
A daily (incremental) backup will be made of all new and changed files at a time of the
day pre-determined by yourself. After each backup you’ll receive an e-mail notification with a detailed report of your backup. If our servers do not receive your scheduled backup you’ll be notified of that as well. Your files will be stored twice at different remote locations to ensure that there’s always a copy available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Simple and automatic
After you’ve installed the software, we’ll take care of the rest. ThinkGrid will automatically back up your data every day without requiring you to do anything. There’s no need to launch an application, remember to insert blank CD-ROMS or connect an external hard drive. Your PC’s select folders are automatically backed up and you can easily add and remove folders to be included in your backup. If you are away from your machine for any length of time, this will be detected and a fresh backup carried out as soon as possible.
Safe and secure
Backups are stored in a professionally monitored storage environment with redundant power and connection. All backups are encrypted at source and your data can only be
read with your own password. Even we can’t read your data. Online backup solutions such as ours are now acknowledged as the most secure way to backup your data.
Reduce operational and capital costs by moving to an online backup system. No initial
outlay is required for the purchase of new equipment, there are no ongoing staff costs to ensure your backups are taken care of, just a simple, predictable, flexible monthly charge.
With ThinkGrid’s Cloud Backup you can increase the amount of storage you need
instantly – and you only pay for what you actually use. And because you can just increase space incrementally, you don’t not need to over purchase storage you’re not using.
You can transfer data back to your PC or to any other system of your choice whenever
you choose. When restoring files you can choose from many different versions -yesterday, last week, a month ago and so on. These older versions can be restored to any location on your hard disk or network.
Increased awareness of business continuity issues has been a major factor in the growing
popularity of online backup systems. With the rise of information technology for business-critical information, the importance of protecting irreplaceable data has become a more visible business priority in recent years. Storing it online with regular automated backups offers peace of mind should the worst ever occur.
How does it work?
Our offsite backup software runs a fully automated daily backup of your important files and data. After a quick and simple installation of the software, you select the files and/or directories you want backed up. You’ll only have to do this once, but it’s also possible to change the selection as and when needed. Initially, a full backup will be made of the selected files and your data will be encrypted and compressed before being sent to our offsite servers for safe storage through an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection. After that, a daily (incremental) backup will be made of all new and altered files at a time of day determined by yourself and after each backup you’ll receive a detailed report by e-mail.
Top 8 Reasons for Choosing Cloud Backup

Cloud Backup Benefits at a Glance
- Secure Backups mean your business-critical data is protected at all times
- Ease-of-Management results in lower operational costs
- Plug & Play – Cloud Backup can be deployed immediately, no complex installation procedure
- 24/7 Availability - you will be able to access your data fro-m any location with an internet connection
- Disaster Recovery – data is stored off-site and can be quickly restored in the event of a calamity
- Optimal Security through authentication, SSL and 256-bit AES encryption
All the backup data is zipped first and encrypted using AES (Advanced Encryption
Standard) 128 or 256 bit encryption technology. Once encrypted, the backup data is transferred to the Online Backup Server. The encryption key is only known by the end-user, so nobody but the end-user can open the backup data on the Backup Server.
The encryption algorithm used to encrypt the backup data is Advanced Encryption
Standard (AES) 128 or 256 bit. This standard, also known as Rijndael, is a block cipher that has been adopted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to be the selected encryption standard. It is the used encryption standard of the US government since 2000.
