GFI Software™ today announced the launch of VIPRE Antivirus 2013 and VIPRE Internet Security 2013, bringing the latest evolutions of the company’s advanced and easy-to-install-and-use antivirus products to consumers. The latest versions build upon VIPRE’s excellent detection rates and low impact on PC performance, helping to not only protect users’ PCs from malware but also identify and fix any vulnerabilities that are present.

“The updates we’ve made to VIPRE 2013 enhance what the product has always delivered – simplicity and effectiveness,” said Mark Patton, general manager of the Security Business Unit, GFI Software. “However, effective AV is not the only concern many people have. The average Internet user does not have the time or inclination to manage AV software. They simply want a product they can easily install that protects against threats aimed at them, and one that doesn’t interfere with their PC’s performance. They don’t have time to manage third-party software either, but they sure would like a simple and intuitive way to fix any weaknesses in their PC due to third-party applications. VIPRE 2013 identifies these weaknesses and fixes them.”

Socomec UPS has beaten the competition once again to win a prestigious Frost & Sullivan award – New Product Innovation 2011 – for its comprehensive range of Green Power UPS solutions. Every year, following extensive research and analysis, the independent body selects industry-leading businesses and products that demonstrate excellence in innovation and that leverage developmental technologies, offer real value, clear benefits and support customers’ return on investment.

The award recognizes Socomec’s long term commitment to developing truly innovative products for increasingly demanding critical power applications. The Socomec Green Power range, available from 10 kVA to 400 kVA, provides 96% efficiency (98% in eco-mode) thanks to Socomec’s 3-level technology. As a result, the Green Power UPS solutions comply with the most stringent environmental protection standards without compromising on performance – even for the most challenging applications. “With its green, power range, ranging from 10 kVA to 400 kVA, Socomec utilizes the 3-level technology to maximize the efficiency and ensure highest protection grade”, notes Frost & Sullivan Senior Research Analyst Gautham Gnanajothi. “It continuously strives to enhance customer value by providing products that are excellent in terms of performance and have a low total cost of ownership”.

Furthermore, one of the reasons that Socomec was awarded this accolade is in recognition of the organization’s early industry innovation in 3-level technology. Developed for and introduced to Socomec products back in 2008, this ground-breaking development is only now being adopted by competitors. Denis Finck, Strategic Marketing Director, Socomec UPS comments, “Socomec is firmly committed to the ongoing research and development of technology to support critical power applications as we understand how vital energy efficiency, performance and cost are to our customers. We are delighted to have been selected for this prestigious award and will focus on remaining at the forefront of this industry.

Paragon Software Group (PSG), the leader in developing cross-platform driver technology, today announced that it joined the SD Association. The SD Association was founded to ensure standards across the SD card industry. SD standards apply to storage media for mobile phones, digital audio players, car navigation systems and electronic books. For over a decade, Paragon’s driver technology has enabled compatibility for mobile devices across a variety of operating systems (Windows™, Mac, Linux, Android™, etc.).

“Over the last few years, demand for cross-platform drivers has just exploded,” said Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group. “With the brisk development of Smart Devices, from Smartphones to Smart TVs, the trend shows no evidence of slowing down. Being a member of the SD Association will ensure Paragon continues to set the standard for embedded driver technology development

Paragon Software’s cross-platform drivers include exFAT, NTFS and HFS+ for Android and Linux. Paragon’s Universal File System Driver (UFSD) technology solves incompatibility issues between exFAT, NTFS, and HFS+ file systems and operating systems & embedded kernels including Android, Linux, ThreadX, and Windows CE. With Paragon’s UFSD support for all popular file systems built into modern digital devices, consumers can now use >32GB SDXC cards and Windows/Mac USB drives with their multimedia players, digital televisions, set-top boxes, mobile and connected devices .

OEMs use of SD card technology continues to expand as the consumer electronics device markets cross boundaries and merge. For example, Smart TVs have SD card readers so that consumers can view videos and photos over their televisions without the need of a cable to connect the device to the TV. Consumers expect their Smart devices to recognize external media regardless of its operating system and to perform at full speed, allowing recording and playback for full HD and 3D video content. Paragon’s driver technology not only ensures compatibility, but also the integrity of the consumer’s stored data –a critical OEM requirement.

Consumer electronics devices integrated with Paragon’s driver technology provide the highest performance in the marketplace, satisfying even the most demanding users. The level of quality is due to kernel-level implementation, hardware acceleration support, OEM platform customization and optimization. Android and Linux devices embedded with Paragon’s drivers reach over 140 MB/s read/write performance on modern external storage and are only limited by the available bandwidth of the storage interface (SDIO, USB, etc.).

Paragon Software’s new technology ensures smooth recording and playback of Full HD Video content. Optimized usage of lower-speed interfaces enables mobile Android devices to fully utilize the bandwidth of SDIO interfaces (e.g. SDXC, SDHC) and delivers smoother read and write operations, improved performance on slower interfaces, and increased cost efficiency. For more information visit http://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/.

Paragon Software Group (PSG), a leader in data backup, disaster recovery, and data migration solutions, announces the release of Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and Server 2012 , a complete backup and recovery software tool for all Windows 8 versions, including the new RTM. Targeted to IT professionals and technology enthusiasts exploring Windows 8, Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and Server 2012 supports the new Windows Server 2012 Resilient File System (ReFS) – which is highly resistant to corruptions and storage failures, is optimized for storing large files and data, and enables users to work with ultra-large volume sizes – allowing quick and easy creation of ReFS partition images.

Testing a new OS always introduces the risk of third-party software incompatibility or system corruption. To avoid the possibility of losing valuable data, Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 allows users to create a backup image of the system, and restore it under Linux or directly on Windows any time it is needed. Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and Server 2012 is based on Paragon’s Universal File System Driver technology, integrating the company’s 18 years of file system development experience.

“For anyone interested in the latest Windows 8-generation family but are having concerns about the system’s safety, Paragon Image Backup for Windows 8 and Server 2012 ensures complete protection as the first and only backup and recovery tool available for the newest Windows OS, demonstrating Paragon’s market-leading position in data security for the entire file system spectrum,” commented Konstantin Komarov, CEO of Paragon Software.

Features include:

Support for the latest Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012;

Full ReFS read/write support under Windows;

Read only access to unmounted ReFS volumes under Linux and Windows environments;

Support for the new ReFS: backup, restore, and browsing under Windows and Linux;

Live Windows backup. Create an image-based copy of the whole disk system, or separate volumes and place them locally, to CD/DVD/BD, or on the net. The use of Paragon disk-imaging technology and Microsoft VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) tackles the problem of backing up running applications and system locked files.

Flexible recovery. Restore the whole backup image, or only particular files under Windows or from the Linux/DOS recovery environment.

Additional maintenance functions. The Linux/DOS recovery environment includes basic functions for initializing, partitioning and formatting hard disks.

Network security vendor, Clavister, has named Vadis Systems as its distributor for the A/NZ market.

Vadis Systems will distribute Clavister’s full suite of network security products for telecom operators, Cloud service providers and enterprises.

Clavister said it picked Vadis Systems for its strong channel partner base in the region and good track record in providing value added service to the ANZ channel and customers.

Vadis Systems’ managing director, Sepp Stepanian, distributing Clavister’s range of security offerings will enable it to grow within the ANZ region, especially within the Cloud, enterprise and telecommunications markets.

“Clavister met and exceeded all the attributes we look for in a network security vendor with their products, pre and post-sales technical support, and commitment to nurturing their channel partners,” Stepanian said.
